Another excellent Harvest Moon game (this time released for GBA). I'm still playing it even now (I'm addicted... Someone help meeeeeeeeeee!!! ;_; )
For those who don't know:
A long, long time ago, back when you were a little boy, you and your family took a trip to the beautiful countryside, and decided to stay in a quaint little town in the middle of nowhere. During the trip, you wander off, and find yourself at the farm of a kind old man who helps you find your parents. For the rest of that wonderful summer, you stay with the old man, playing on his farm, harassing the chickens, and having the time of your life. You even meet a cute little girl!! At the end of the summer, you leave the farm with fond memories, and promise to send the old man letters every now and then to let him know how you're doing.
Jump forward a few years, and you're all grown up. You've kept your promise to the old man this whole time. However, 6 months ago, you stopped receiving letters from him. As soon as you can (not soon enough; 6 months passed by, you SLACKER!!), you make your way back to the farm. You meet the town's new mayor, who tells you that the kind old man had died 6 months ago... and left the entire farm to you in his will.
Now, it's up to you to make the farm as wonderful as it was when you were little. You must plow, plant, and grow crops to earn money, raise animals, interact with your neighbors, and meet that little girl again (and, marry her, of course!) However, you're not the only one who has his sights on your girl, so work quickly to win her affections (you've only got 4 years!). With the threat of nasty weather, romantic rivals, and back-breaking hard work facing you, do you think you have what it takes to make the old man's dream a reality again?
It's a looooooooooooooong game, but pretty fun once you've figured out what to do and how to do it. It gets a little frustrating and tedious at times, but once you've really gotten into the game, you'll see it's one of the best GBA games ever released. Currently, a Girl's version of the game is in the works, and should be released in either November or December of 2004 (or, as late as January of 2005).
