CyberConnect2 has released more information on G.U. at the Tokyo Game Show in Japan. Contrary to E3, TGS is open to the public for a mere $10.00. TGS goes on until the 18th of September. A new trailer has been shown with actual gameplay and voiceovers. From the trailer, G.U. will seem to fit under the Action RPG title. The whole battle system has been revamped, making it look like a more enjoyable experience. The G.U. battle system seems to borrow elements from Tales of Symphonia, which is a good thing. (Note: Bandai and Namco are merging) ToS battle system was praised by a lot. However we don't know how the data drain system will work.
Hopefully CC2 will leak out more information on their new battle system soon.
Save files from the previous games will give users goodies in G.U. CC2 is still being secretive about what however. "It's not something that you will get to benefit from right away, but the team promised that when the moment finally arrives for the connection to be made, it will be "something cool and really awesome." This ends the debate of the quarantine save file, eh? .hack//G.U. and fragment will have some kind of relationship with each other. The official name of the first volume is: ".hack//G.U. Resurrection". No official release date has been given yet, just a broad 2006.
Along with a new battle system, comes completely new classes. Haseo is a "Multi-weapon" and other classes include Warlock, Steam Gunner (Ovan), Harvest, Grappler, Blade, Danse Macabre (Dance of Death), and a Healer. Rather than coming with anime DVDs (a new .hack anime has been announced though), the G.U. games will have a different pack-in, but has not been revealed yet. Be sure to check back on dothackers for more coverage of the Tokyo Game Show. If you'd like information on dothackers coverage of E3 2005, click here.
["The story of growth and determination of 8 players as they progress through two worlds, the actual world and "The World""]
In 2017, the number of people participating in the MMMORPG "The World" reaches 12 million. People have come to this world seeking prosperity; hovever what they found was not the utopian world they were seeking. Roaming Player Killers and disputes between guilds occur; along with the appearance of of something that should not exist. The systems Administrators have no control over the situation."
CyberConnect2 has released official images of the new characters along with captured gameplay images from the traier. The new designs have a more animeish drawing style to it than the previous games. The names of the main characters, as many of you have already memorized for life are: Atoli, Ovan, Pai, Endrance, Yata, Kuhn, Tri-Edge, and Haseo.
